Digits and quantities
A digit helps us write a number. Let's see how many objects it represents.
Theory
Digits from 0 to 9
Choose a digit. See how many apples it represents.
Count one at a time
Tap the counters one at a time. Count each counter only once. The last number tells you how many there are.
Each counter is one. Count them and compare with the numeral.
Tap each counter once.
Example
Counted
0New places, same number
Rearrange the counters. If none were added or removed, there are still just as many.
Rearrange the counters. The amount stays the same.
Tap a space to add or remove a counter.
Example
Your counters
5None is zero
Remove all the counters. Now there are none. We write this quantity as 0.
Remove one counter at a time. How many will remain?
Tap a space to add or remove a counter.

5Games
